Underwater Dreams - Pearl Treasure of Tears
This underwater exhibition, which shows beautiful Finnish waters, is loosely based on the mythology of Finnish national epic, Kalevala. When Väinämöinen is playing Finnish zither next to a lake, all animals, elfs and fairies come to listen to the beautiful sound of him playing. It’s so beautiful they all stop and listen and they start to cry. Väinämöinen also starts to cry. Those beautiful tears are going under the waters and eventually change into pearls. The character in the photos is one of the fairies, listening to the beautiful melody.
This exhibition combines photographer Elina Manninen’s and World Record freediver Johanna Nordblad’s talents. They have been working together for years and learned to work seamlessly together. When taking pictures they both dive without any diving gear, just holding their breath. Pictures have been taken in beautiful natural lakes in Finland, honouring their beauty. Every step from when the picture is planned and taken until it’s finally printed takes knowledge and professionalism. Photos are printed on art quality canvas and wood framed.
There’s over 180 000 lakes in Finland and they all have their own character. Artists have been able to capture the beauty of Finnish lakes and show it to the world.

All money from the prints is used towards Johanna’s next World Record Attempt.
